Who was Zack Zernik?
Our 1 Mile Run/Walk is named for Zachary Zernik, a Thousand Oaks native who died tragically in January 2023 while hiking in local open space. A lifelong “Dasher,” Zack and his family―including mom Elizabeth, father Fred and sister Marina―took part in the Thanksgiving Day tradition for many years. In Zack’s honor and to give back to the Conejo Valley community, a portion of the proceeds are going to benefit several Conejo Valley Boy Scout troops. Zack was an Eagle Scout who loved sports, fitness and the great outdoors.
