CAUSES
Hospice of the Conejo
Hospice of the Conejo connects people and families with services relating to critical illness, end-of-life issues and grief. Founded in 1977, the group is staffed by volunteers and does not charge for its work, relying instead on donations, fundraisers and grants. As a non-medical hospice, the organization is able to offer support outside the constraints placed on medical hospices by Medicare and insurance. Its loving volunteers provide companionship and care to patients in Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark and beyond.
Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Foundation
The Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks works directly with youth ages kindergarten through college to teach them to care about their community through hands-on service projects and leadership training. Early in life these youth gain a servant’s heart, compassion and confidence ensuring they can positively shape the future. Additionally, Kiwanis provides scholarships to local high school students seeking higher education and supports a multitude of nonprofits with volunteerism and funding in Thousand Oaks and surrounding communities.
Ventura County Council of Boy Scouts
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Locally, BSA provides educational programs for youth and young adults that build character, citizenship and personal fitness. The organization’s goal is to facilitate meaningful contact and communication between youth, parents and other community organizations to help young people adopt strong values and life skills.
